Why did we create this page?

At 5 am on February 24, Russian troops invaded in Ukraine. A series of loud explosions shook cities across Ukraine and, of course, the capital - Kyiv.

I think most Ukrainians immediately turned on the news and waited for the official appeal of the president to clarify the situation. And after waiting - they heard about the beginning of a full-scale war.

Each of us tried to find a safe place, people left cities in panic, the traffic jams on the way out of the capital did not subside. We all knew the safe direction - it is the road to our native village Kukhari. However, none of us even suspected that a small village in the Kyiv region could become a stumbling block for the occupier.

The eastern and northern regions of Ukraine were the first to take the blow. Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mariupol for many days became the shield of our country.

Kukhari almost immediately felt the horror of the war. In the first days, a column of occupiers came to the village with equipment on their way to Kyiv - a strategic road was laid in the village, as it turned out… But the occupiers did not know that the day before the bridge over the river Teteriv was blown up and our village - detached from the opportunity to go beyond it. When they reached the place of the crossing, the enemy saw that the bridge was destroyed and there was no road to Kyiv, so they decided to disperse on different streets of the village - after which it all started…

We all lived under the gunfire of the occupiers, hid, prepared food, tried to sleep. And some of us even met with an evil enemy, who claimed that he had come to "liberate" us, the civilians of the beloved village.

In the first days of the occupation, the church, school, and residential buildings were damaged, as well as power, gas, and Internet lines. One day people were cut off from everything. Most roads have become unusable. Later, a bomb or rocket was dropped at night, destroying the village council building and the water tower that supplied water to a half of the village. Most of the houses are currently damaged or destroyed.

Running to the Kukhari, we wanted to find peace there. We wanted to escape the war, but it found us… And someone found peace - unfortunately, forever…

So we made this page to rebuild our village, to revive it's beauty, to help it's inhabitants and all those who rush to their homeland every weekend, for those who have found their deaths here, and for those who want to continue living here.

The funds raised will be donated to rebuild the main infrastructure of the village, so get involved - Kukhari will survive!
